Lake Almanor

If you are a golfer, biker, hiker, water skier, bird watcher, fishing enthusiast or just like to enjoy nature, this is a recreation destination you don't want to miss. (58 miles/1.5 hours from Lassen)
Lake Almanor

Deep winter snows and the Feather River help fill Lake Almanor, one of the Sierra's largest reservoirs. This is a summer recreation paradise for anyone desiring lots of great fishing, hiking, camping-or simply sitting back, relaxing and enjoying the fragrant forest air. The reservoir's earth-fill dam was built on the North Fork of the Feather River in 1926-27. If you have a boat, fishing and water skiing opportunities abound. And for wildlife watchers, the northern wetlands area is home to migrating and nesting birds, from Canada geese and ducks to herons, osprey, and even bald eagles. There are plenty of services available around the lake, from hotels and campgrounds to grocery stores and small restaurants.
