A watershed is the area of land where all of the water that is under it or drains off of it goes into the same place (United States Environmental Protection Agency 2010).

This map is a spatial directory of the Sierra Nevada Alliance’s Watershed Directory. The directory includes watershed councils, organizations, coordinated resource management processes, and conservation groups that work to conserve, protect, and restore watershed health in the Sierra Nevada. The Sierra Nevada Conservancy is working to expand this map to include other organizations and governmental agencies that also engage in watershed assessment, monitoring and site improvement activities.

The Conservancy asks for your support in keeping the watershed organizational directory up to date. If you know of a watershed organization that is not included in the directory, please send an email to Liz at evanwag@sierranevada.ca.gov and provide the organization’s name, a contact person with their name, phone and/or email. Please include the watershed(s) where the organization operates. Thank you for your input!
